Low rolling resistance has a lot of advantages to list - riders can reach top speed more quickly, maintain that speed longer, and keep their legs fresher for the finishing sprint, among others. The tubeless construction of the Formula PRO series cuts rolling resistance by 20% compared to traditional tubed tires. Tubeless tires also tolerate a wider range of pressures, which can increase comfort and reduce exertion.

Tubeless tires integrate the air-sealing layer into the tire, and even punctures caused by foreign objects when riding do not result in the kind of hole propagation that occurs with conventional tubed tires, so that pressure loss is comparatively gradual in most cases. When pierced by a plunger with a diameter of 1.7 mm, the time required for internal pressure loss was roughly ten times as long. For this reason, small punctures often stay small, greatly reducing the chances of wrecks.

Because the butyl rubber air-seal is integrated with the tire, the air volume contained by it and the rim on Formula PRO tubeless tires have almost no natural leakage compared to conventional tubed tires. This eliminates the need to top off tires every day, so you can hop on your bike and ride without worrying about maintenance. And when mounting tubeless tires, there's obviously no inner tube to get caught between the bead and rim, eliminating one of minor annoyances, the burst tube.

RICE BRAN CERAMIC COMPOUND RICE BRAN CERAMIC COMPOUNDRice Bran Ceramic is, as its moniker suggests, derived from simple, ordinary, everyday rice. What we do to it, however is anything but. Rice bran (or the outer husk of an individual rice grain) is ground to a fine powder, mixed with a thermosetting resin, and super-heated. When cooled, the block is pulverized to create millions of porous, ball-shaped structures with semi-rigid fingers extending in all directions. These Rice Bran Ceramic "balls" are then kneaded with the rubber and molded into tires. The spikes which extend from the RBC reach out and grab the uneven road surface for increased traction while the pores will wick water from the road surface to create a larger tire-to-road contact patch.

NR-TEX(NATURAL RUBBER) INNER AIR SEAL SYSTEM To bring the advantages of a latex tube to a tubeless tire, IRC developed a new high-elasticity tire liner based on natural rubber which offers lower energy loss, reinforced with silica. Despite being slightly poorer at retaining air than the butyl rubber used for typical liners, air retention is sufficient, especially for tubeless construction.

The Usage Scale is your guide to matching an lRC tire to your preferred terrain and riding style. Read the scale as a range, with the highlighted cell indicating optimum use. A highlighted cell falling in the middle of the range indicates that the tire is equally suited for the condition at each end of the range. Keep in mind that this is only a guide as lRC tires work well in a variety of conditions.
